How a Solar Water Heater works
Solar water heaters come in a wide variety of designs, all including a collector and storage
tank, and all using the sun's thermal energy to heat water. Solar water heaters are typically
described according to the type of collector and the circulation system.
Our solar water heaters are a Closed-loop, or indirect system, which means they use a
non-freezing liquid (glycol) to transfer heat from the sun to water in a storage tank. The sun's
thermal energy heats the fluid in the solar collectors. Then, this fluid passes through a heat
exchanger in the storage tank, transferring the heat to the water. The non-freezing fluid then
cycles back to the collectors.
Applications Of Solar Water Heater
Water heating is one of the most cost-effective uses of solar energy. Every year, several thousands of new solar water heaters are installed worldwide. Solar water heaters
can be used for homes (residentials), schools, community centres, hospitals, hotels,
restaurants, dairy plants, canteens, hostels, industry etc. Use of solar water heater can
curtail electricity or fuel bills considerably.
